Extension Aftercare Instructions

For I-Tip Micro-Links, Nano Links, and K-Tip Hair Infusion Extensions

Congratulations on your new install! To keep your extensions looking flawless and to protect the health of your natural hair and scalp, follow these aftercare instructions carefully.

GENERAL CARE FOR ALL EXTENSION TYPES

(I-Tip, Nano, & K-Tip)

1. Wait 48 Hours Before Washing (K-Tips Only):

Allow K-Tip bonds to fully cure before washing to ensure a secure and long-lasting hold.

2. Use Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner:

Use only sulfate- and paraben-free, extension-safe products.

Avoid oils, heavy conditioners, or volumizing shampoos at the root or bond area.

Dry shampoo is recommended between washes to extend the life of your install.

3. Wash in a Downward Motion:

Gently cleanse your hair while keeping it detangled.

Use your fingertips in a zigzag motion directly along the scalp—do not scrub or move the hair in circles, as this can cause matting.

4. Dry Thoroughly:

Extensions should never be left damp.

Blow-dry the roots and bonds completely to prevent slippage or weakened bonds.

Use a microfiber towel to absorb excess moisture before blow-drying.

5. Brush with Care:

Use a natural boar bristle brush at the scalp.

Use a detangling or extension-safe brush (like a Denman) on the mid-shafts and ends.

Always support the hair at the root while brushing from ends upward.

Brush daily to prevent tangling.

6. Sleep Protection:

Tie your hair in a loose braid or ponytail at bedtime.

Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.

Never go to bed with wet hair.

7. Avoid Direct Heat on Bonds:

You can style with heat, but avoid direct heat on the bonds or rings.

Blow-drying is okay, just be mindful around attachment points.

8. Professional Maintenance is a Must:

I-Tip & Nano Links: Maintenance every 6–8 weeks to reposition and prevent damage.

K-Tips: These are not reusable and should be professionally removed and reinstalled every 3–4 months.

TYPE-SPECIFIC TIPS:

I-TIP MICRO-LINK EXTENSIONS

  1. Avoid tight hairstyles that pull on the links.
  2. Repositioning is crucial—delayed maintenance can cause breakage.
  3. Clarifying shampoo is okay 1–2 days before reinstall, but not for regular use.

NANO LINK EXTENSIONS

  1. Be gentle—nano rings are smaller and more delicate than I-tips.
  2. Avoid pulling or tugging to prevent slippage.
  3. Ideal for fine hair but still requires 6–8 week maintenance.

K-TIP (KERATIN INFUSION) EXTENSIONS

  1. Avoid applying conditioner or oils near the keratin bonds.
  2. Be gentle when brushing to avoid breaking the keratin.
  3. Heat tools are fine—just don’t apply directly to the bonds.
  4. Not reusable—professional removal is required.

WHEN TO BOOK A TOUCH-UP OR REMOVAL

Watch for the following signs:

  1. Tangling at the roots
  2. Excessive shedding or strand slippage
  3. Visible bonds or rings
  4. Scalp irritation or sensitivity

Note:

Some light shedding in the first 2–3 days is normal. This may be from hair that didn’t fully adhere to the bond. If you lose a strand, keep it—we can reinstall it at your touch-up appointment.

However, if you experience:

  1. Discomfort
  2. More than 10 strands slipping
  3. Product buildup or matting

📅 Book a follow-up appointment immediately.
